Kind of Amazing

Something that Frank said gave me the idea for this post (don't tell him that, though, hehe).  We were talking about how things work out.  We moved to Colorado in Jan 2007.  We left our job at a private child support collection agency.  He was the IT guy and I worked in Accounting.  We had talked about moving to Colorado for a while, maybe 6 months.  He was burnt out at work and tired of Phoenix, really.  So, we decided to move.  Maybe 6 months to a year later, the company was sold and everybody was laid off.  If we would have stayed in Phoenix and working there, we would have both been out of a job, lost our house and car.  Thank goodness we moved.
The reason Frank had been applying for jobs, now, is because his company had been bought out.  He didn't like the things he had heard about the new company.  Everyone looks out for themselves, not willing to work together.  They work insane hours.  Frank's position was being eliminated towards the end of the year and we'd possibly have to move to Manhattan, New York.  So, he'd been looking since the buy out.  He got the job in Bakersfield and gave his two week notice.  5 days later, he found out that they laid off 14 people in the US (they have offices all over the world).  Most of those 14 people, were IT people.  Frank's boss was laid off, a guy that Frank had just hired about 3 or 4 months ago was laid off.  Insane!  They kept one person at Frank's office and his boss' office in Tucson.  The people they kept were make less than Frank and his boss.  It's all about the money.  THANK GOODNESS he got the job in Bakersfield!  He would have had a month to find a new job.  It would have been rough!  Crazy.
So, now you see why it's kind of amazing.  Things just seem to fall into place and validate our decisions.  Amazing!

  1. Okay...wait. I'm a little confused Tammy. Are you now living in Bakersfield? Or Colorado? Sorry, I tried to figure it out, but I am still confused. Either way, it is indeed a good thing!!!

  3. Tammy I couldn't agree more! I think about that everyday. I am so happy for Frank for finding a new job. Especially for your family. It sounds like you both are extremely supportive of one another. Congratulations for life working out for good people :)
